Quality Manager (Izegem)

Your role

  • As Quality Manager you determine the policies of the entire quality process (from raw material to finished product and storage, including the support services) and you supervise compliance with it in order to be able to offer optimum quality control and quality assurance to our customers.
  • You translate the quality strategy into concrete projects and help with its elaboration, in accordance with the lean methodologies that the site uses.
  • You manage a team of 6 lab technicians and coach your employees to optimally use and develop their competencies, skills and know-how.
  • In addition, you build a network within the organization, with commercial department, purchasing department, legal, quality, R&D, etc. You work together with them to optimize the quality system on the site.
  • You ensure long-term contacts with customers during customer audits and you ensure positive communication with them, also in the event of complaints or comments.
  • You are part of the Management Team and you report to the Site Manager.

Your key responsibilities

  • You ensure continuity regarding the QA system and the food safety system (inspections, customer audits, certification audits according to IFS, BRC, halal, internal audits, KPI reports, documentation system, ...).
  • Regarding the QC part, you determine, together with the production manager, which quality checks are carried out on the floor and how those quality checks are monitored.
  • You can count on a thorough knowledge of the most recent quality management systems (BRC, IFS, ACS, halal, etc.) and you have extensive experience with their practical application.
  • You manage the quality team (6 people). As a driven people manager you coach, develop and motivate your team and drive them to further success. You coach them in the use of improvement techniques.
  • You participate in and encourage ongoing improvement processes in line with the current strategy.
  • You participate in the development of metrics & reporting on performance.
  • You are responsible for quality relationships with our customers. Together with the commercial team you ensure correct communication to follow-up the customers.
  • You provide input to investments and possible improvements to processes, installations and systems through cross-functional operation.

About you

  • You have an academic background, preferably a Master's degree.
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position. Managerial experience is required.
  • You have a demonstrable technical expertise and knowledge of quality management.
  • You have experience with Lean tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • You have a thorough knowledge of nutritional standards (IFS, BRC, ...).
  • You are familiar with the food industry, you have notions of lean manufacturing to anchor continuous improvement in the organization.
  • As a Quality Manager you can think and stimulate problem solving, you have strong communication skills and you have the necessary skills in change management. You coach colleagues both within and outside your team.
  • You have strong leadership skills to lead, motivate and develop your team.
  • You have a strong analytical mind, good administrative follow-up and a pragmatic / practical attitude.
  • You have good communication skills, you have persuasiveness and you are a real team player.
  • You are able to set priorities in the interest of the entire site, across the value chain.
  • You have organizational talent and you tackle projects on a project basis.
  • You strongly believe in continuous improvement and can propagate these principles.
  • You can work independently as well as cross-functionally.
  • You have a good knowledge of Dutch and English.
