To strengthen our Master Data team at HQ (Ghent), we are currently looking for a Master Data Governance Officer.

Your role:

As Master Data Governance Officer, you are responsible for the setup of a framework for Data Governance for master data (product, customer and vendor). You make sure we can measure data quality and enable data validation and data correction. You work closely together with the master data expert, business process owner and product master data manager. You set up a data governance communication platform and conduct data improvement projects. You are in close contact with many other departments within the business. You report to the Business Data Manager.

Your key responsibilities and challenges are:

  • Set up a framework for Master Data Governance (product, customer and vendor). Define data rules and measure and improve data quality;
  • Maintain high-quality data, make sure data quality can be measured and is communicated; You make an action plan to improve data quality.
  • Improve business processes especially when master data is involved. You incorporate the Governance Rules into the processes.
  • Transform master data into information to create added value for the company and the customer
  • Work closely together with the business and IT to improve data governance;
  • Select and set up new systems for data quality and data governance;
  • Work closely together with the master data expert, product master data manager and team and all people involved in master data creation and maintenance;
  • Become an expert in the field of master data governance;
  • Lead or participate in various international projects where master data knowledge is required.
  • Train the community of data owners & key users in the different departments (train the trainer).

About you

  • You hold a Master’s degree (Economics, Sciences, Business Engineering, Bio-engineering, Chemical engineering, ….) or you have an IT background with strong affinity to business decisions
  • You have at least 3-5 years of working experience, preferable in a data related position (within master data, supply chain, marketing, sales back office,…). Experience in data governance is a plus.
  • Above all you are ambitious and energetic. You like to learn every day. Your drive and enthusiasm will motivate you to go the extra mile in engaging others.
  • You are highly analytical and always looking for the business relevance of your data.
  • You have a “no-nonsense” and down-to-earth mentality.
  • You are data driven and process minded.
  • Your excellent communication and persuasion skills enable you to motivate, drive and engage your internal and external stakeholders. You are a real team player.
  • You are proactive and stress resistant. At the same time, you are pragmatic, problem-solving and looking for initiative. You like to take ownership in projects.
  • You have a broad general interest and you are interested in all business aspects (sales, production, marketing, R&D,…)
  • You are flexible and prepared to travel if needed.
  • Affinity to IT systems is a must. Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • Working language is English. Dutch and French are a plus.
