What will you do as a Safety Lead?


In order to support our customer’s continuously growing operation we are looking for a strong and experienced Safety Lead. Our customer is a Top 50 Fortune 500 company in the High Tech Industry that specializes in internet-related services and products, which include cloud computing, software, and hardware. Together with our customer we strive to make this a world class leading logistics operation. In this role you are responsible for the local maintenance, adherence, improvement and implementation of our Health, Safety and Environment standards at our customer’s Data Centers in Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. You are also accountable for operational activities, projects, improvements, and reporting. You report to the Safety Manager EMEA and work closely together with the Site Manager.


Your tasks consist of:


  • Implementing and maintaining the EMEA Safety Program in accordance with GXO’s and our customer’s policies, procedures as well as national legal requirements.
  • Performing risks assessments and eliminating or reducing occupational health and safety risks
  • Safety related reporting and investigation of incidents, near misses and observations to ensure that local strategies are implemented to prevent recurrence or reduce the number of incidents.
  • Coordinating and carrying out safety audits; investigate non-conformities and ensure completeness and timeliness of investigations
  • Determining the root cause of reported complaints using adequate methodology for complaint investigation and implementation (RCCA/CAPA).
  • Onboarding – new employee security certifications
  • Coordinating local training programs, rollout of new processes and procedures.
  • Compiling various reports and compiling KPI data.


What do you need:


  • You have a higher college or bachelor’s degree (preferably in Logistics)
  • You have at least a recognized degree or certification in Occupational Safety and Health, e.g., NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
  • You have recently been working in a similar position for at least 3 years where you were responsible for Occupational Health and Safety and/or Safety coordination with operational teams.
  • Experience with Occupational Health systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) will be an advantage
  • You have a Prevention Advisor Level 1 or 2 certificate, or equivalent
  • You master the English and French language perfectly both written and spoken, are communicatively proficient and have strong presentation skills.
  • You are resident in the region and are willing to travel to the locations within this account.
