Project Engineer - Energy transition

For the Engineering department at our headquarters in Brussels (near the train station and subway, see the map here) we’re looking for an Project Engineer - Energy transition (m/f/x).
 

The Engineering Department supports Fluxys' activities by defining technical standards and producing study files for the transportation of natural gas , as well as for other molecules such as hydrogen, methanol, CO2, etc. The department contributes to projects to build and/or modify facilities on the Fluxys Belgium grid and is also involved in projects carried out in the Group's subsidiaries abroad. Engineering is also involved in innovative projects in connection with opportunities created by the energy transition.

You will contribute to Fluxys' development in terms of the energy transition by taking part in the implementation of innovative projects and implementing solutions to these new challenges.

Your respon­sibilities

• As a Project Engineer, you will take part in Engineering projects and ensure the pragmatic, efficient and targeted execution of these projects
• You will also be involved in carrying out analyses and feasibility studies as part of innovation projects. You will seek out solutions to new challenges such as reducing our emissions and carry out research into more efficient technologies both in terms of energy and cost
• You will help define the scope of innovative projects, in Belgium and abroad, by understanding the needs and comparing them to current and emerging technologies
• You will conduct studies, from the feasibility phase to the detailed design phase, and recommend the best solutions
• You will formulate adequate technical solutions (transversal) to meet the project's national and international objectives in terms of deadlines, quality, safety and cost
• You will collaborate with a large portfolio of external and internal stakeholders
• You will work under the leadership of the head of the Projects unit

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A master's degree in industrial or civil engineering, energy or chemistry
• At least five years of experience in process engineering, preferably in the energy sector and the gas sector in particular
  • Industrial or engineering experience, preferably in the following areas:
  • Processing of hydrocarbons and hydrogen (terminalling, compression, storage, regasification)
  • CO2 in liquid or gas form (e.g. purification, compression, pressure reduction, transport via pipeline, etc.)
• Saving of energy and renewable energies (pressure reduction turbine, electrolyser, etc.)
• Excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail that help you to understand the different aspects of the business process in an integrated and holistic way
• Intellectual curiosity and a focus on results
• An ability to communicate with impact and to tailor your communication to the people you are talking to
• Genuine team spirit enabling you to forge links between the various departments
• Excellent knowledge of French and/or Dutch and English
