Principal Software Engineer

The Curated Views team delivers premium enterprise Smartsheet products and desktop applications that enables customers to build custom processes, control field views, set logic over which fields are displayed, made read-only, or hidden based on field status dynamically, and offers granular control over security. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to build top-tier software systems that will help design and implement Smartsheet's next generation architecture. In this role, you will mentor other engineers, establish best engineering practices and can act as a lead on cross-team projects. You will drive positive change in the work environment with a consistent track record of delivering on commitments. You will communicate proactively to different audiences including executives and Product and UX design stakeholders.

You will report to an Engineering leader based from our Bellevue, WA office and will have the option to work remotely from any Smartsheet registered location within the United States. You will:

• Build highly scalable/available infrastructure in AWS

• Guide and mentor team members regarding design and coding best practices

• Initiates, leads and delivers significant improvements to distributed services 

• Write clean and efficient code in either of Java, C## , Javascript, Typescript, NodeJS, or React based on product specifications

• Resolves conflicts, brings teams together, and promotes solutions that benefit multiple teams

• Participate in the entire development life cycle, from concept to release

You have:

• 10+ years software development experience with system architecture experience across multiple languages and frameworks with 5+ years full-stack web application development

• Experience building highly performant, scalable, and availability applications (backend, APIs, frontend)

• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, deployment, rollback, testing, operations, and monitoring

• Experience developing microservices and software solutions using AWS

• BS or MS in Computer Science, a related field, equivalent industry experience, or equivalent educational experience.
