Practice Area Profile


BCG Platinion launched in Germany in 2000 to add deep technical expertise to the Boston Consulting Group’s existing capabilities. Today, our presence spans across the globe, with offices in Asia, Europe, and South and North America. Our New York-based North American team began in 2014 and in 2017 acquired MAYA Design, a Pittsburgh-based digital design and innovation lab, to grow our capabilities around technology and design. We support our clients’ total digital transformation through technology, design, cybersecurity, and risk management & financial engineering capabilities. And together with BCG, BCG Platinion’s interdisciplinary team of technical experts enable customized technical solutions and accelerate delivery value through new business platforms, application consolidations, and major system implementations.


What You'll Do

As a Lead IT Architect, you will work closely with clients to understand their issues, define IT strategies, architecture solutions, win buy-in for your recommendations, and collaborate with fellow BCGers to transform client potential into performance. You will be given end-to-end responsibility for larger, highly technical and more complex “modules” within a project, and begin to develop specialized knowledge to help you solve clients’ problems. You will take on team lead responsibilities and demonstrate intellectual leadership.
At BCG Platinion you will work alongside a bold, energetic and collaborative team. You will be in position to interact with clients and help them make the complex technological shift in a fast-paced, digital, and competitive world. You will develop and grow by being exposed to complex and very exciting challenges (cost-reduction strategy, de-risking model, tech due-diligence, large scale digital transformation, technology modernization…). In an agile and collaborative approach, you will assess and coach our clients' technology teams, define digital roadmap strategies and architecture options in multiple contexts including carve-out and PMI scenarios. Together with our clients, you will develop strong digital and technology concepts as well as support technical implementations actively, helping clients in challenging integrator approaches and executions blending harmoniously your expertise, ERP best practices and BCG tech frameworks. You will also be in position to upskill in record time your analytical and conceptual skills on various industries (food, automotive, banking, reinsurance, telecommunication, medias and more!)


What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications)


  • 10 – 12+ years’ experience in software development and enterprise architecture, technical project management, digital delivery or technology consulting
  • Experience working in the consulting industry
  • Expertise with topics such as, but not limited to:
    • Enterprise architecture
    • Solution architecture
    • Data architecture
    • ERP/CRM/SCP architecture
    • Integration architecture
    • Cloud-native architecture
  • Experience in Data concepts (management, security, governance, database, integration, quality)
  • Modern cloud exposure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience in reporting and analytics is welcome
  • Overview of common development methods and tools DevOps practices and Continuous Improvement
  • Ability to balance dogmatism and pragmatism to guide decision making. Articulate trade-offs and drive high-impact technology decisions on topics including (but not limited to) IaaS/PaaS providers, container orchestration, service mesh, API gateways, and commercial vs. open source software.
  • Approaches to managing Architectural debt, Architecture governance and evolution in practice
  • Micro services topologies, including operational concerns such as resiliency, observability, discovery and routing, security etc.
  • Have experience with, and understand how to lead, legacy integration and remediation (facades, strangler approaches, et. al.)
  • Deep understanding of different integration patterns and best practices such as events, synchronous vs. asynchronous
  • Fluent English, Dutch and/or French
