Pipelines Patrolling – Technical Expert

You will support the introduction and coordinate the daily use of all innovations, digital developments and monitoring programmes related to patrolling our pipelines. This includes monitoring the facilities, ensuring clearance above pipelines and monitoring third-party works (TPW) in the vicinity of pipelines.

Your respon­sibilities

• After a training period, during which you will learn about our facilities, you will support the digital transition of our activities by technologically monitoring, testing, reliably implementing and further developing existing and new patrol systems. Examples of applications include gas detection above our pipelines (helicopters, drones, etc.), shock detection (acoustic signals, network signals, etc.) and tools our patrollers can use while working in the field (foot patrol app, graphic displays, etc.)
• You will coordinate maintenance programmes and enforcement projects that have been set up for monitoring the reserved area next to our pipelines. These include for example the regular maintenance of green areas, the monitoring of buildings and storage spaces nearby, etc.
• Thanks to your knowledge of legislation, patrol activities and coordination agreements within the Third-Party Works & Pipelines Management team, you will also act as a point of contact for staff members in operating offices throughout Belgium. This aspect of the position includes:
  • providing support for the execution of complex works in the vicinity of our installations
  • sharing your subject-matter expertise with other departments, such as HSEQ, Community Relations, Commercial, etc.
  • acting as a contact person for suppliers, governments and sector companies in order to promote the exchange of experiences and new developments
• You will direct the process for the above activities and draw up the required procedures and instructions that guarantee the followed approach in the Fluxys Safety Management System

You will contribute to Fluxys' development in terms of the energy transition by taking part in the implementation of innovative projects and implementing solutions to these new challenges.

Your respon­sibilities

• As a Project Engineer, you will take part in Engineering projects and ensure the pragmatic, efficient and targeted execution of these projects
• You will also be involved in carrying out analyses and feasibility studies as part of innovation projects. You will seek out solutions to new challenges such as reducing our emissions and carry out research into more efficient technologies both in terms of energy and cost
• You will help define the scope of innovative projects, in Belgium and abroad, by understanding the needs and comparing them to current and emerging technologies
• You will conduct studies, from the feasibility phase to the detailed design phase, and recommend the best solutions
• You will formulate adequate technical solutions (transversal) to meet the project's national and international objectives in terms of deadlines, quality, safety and cost
• You will collaborate with a large portfolio of external and internal stakeholders
• You will work under the leadership of the head of the Projects unit

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• A bachelor's degree in a technical field (ICT technology, electromechanical engineering, electronics, etc.) or equivalent experience
• At least five years of relevant work experience in an industrial environment, with a preference for energy or piping systems
• A critical eye and a meticulous and structured approach
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate others and provide constructive feedback
• A strong focus on results and the ability to quickly and efficiently follow up multiple projects at the same time
• A good knowledge of Dutch and French
• A good command of MS Office (mainly Word and Excel) and the motivation to learn new applications and special softwares
