For large industrial power consumers valorised in our VPP (virtual power plant), Centrica Optimisation offers substantial Demand Response revenue at no cost and without any investment from the Flexprovider. For battery owners and renewable energy producers, Centrica Optimisation offers a Realtime multimarket optimisation of their assets through automated steering of power demand.

Our cutting-edge, automated Demand Response technology platform Flexpond optimally aggregates large sets of flexible industrial & commercial loads combined with storage and renewable technologies, such that we can offer more cost- and carbon efficient balancing power than current peak power plants.

The Benelux Sourcing & Sales Team is looking for an empowered individual that will have a key role in managing existing customer accounts while generating new business by sourcing new flexible MWs from industrial consumers & renewable energy producers.

The role holder will be responsible for managing day to day interactions with all stakeholders within the new and existing customer base and for growing these accounts to include a wider set of Centrica Optimisation solutions (cross/up selling).

The role can work is based in Belgium with flexibility on the exact location.

Key Accountabilities:

Generate New Business (c70%)

  • Drive & contribute to our delivery of annual Optimisation (C&I and Battery) targets

  • Lead on commercial discussions with industrial consumers (our Flexproviders) and leads to explore new business opportunities for Optimisation. Aim to have these discussions with prospects and key accounts

  • Develop a prospect category list with an associated sales strategy against each opportunity type

  • Ensure that customer expectations are both managed and met

  • Develop new business, follow up on tenders and prepare proposals in battery storage optimisation both for external investors as CBS Energy Asset team

  • Be the internal voice of the customer and flag issues / challenges around products / propositions

Account management of our existing portfolio of Flexproviders (c30%)

  • Own the account renewal processes team when the contracts are due to expire

  • Ensure a regular (monthly/quarterly) performance follow-up with each of our customers

  • Be their main point of contact regarding any question they may have about market changes, new products & strategy, performance, upsell possibility

  • Managing day to day availability of customer base – working with onsite teams to review any changes in availability and to inform the trading team of any long-term impact on power at these sites with the sales team

  • Ensuring invoices are raised correctly and paid out on time – working with the financial teams at the customer sites to review payments and investigate any differences between payments due and payments expected together with the settlement team

  • Maintain in our CRM database (salesforce) of pipeline opportunities and contract wins, including accurate pipelines and forecasts, meeting activity, feedback on tenders and logging of account plans and opportunity plans

  • Regular review of the online portal systems, to ensure they display the relevant information for the customer

  • Ensure contracts are adhered to (both customer and Centrica)

  • Internal liaison with trading, commercial, legal, settlement & enablement and PMO teams

  • Staying on top of policy and legislation (supported by the relevant teams) to ensure customers are educated and we are their trusted advisor

  • Management of customer and Centrica teams for effective project delivery (from Contract signature to go-live in optimisation markets).

The Person:

  • Previous and successful track record demonstrating client-focused solutions selling experience and talent for influencing client management or previous professional experience within energy markets and/or Elia ancillary services

  • Proven ability to generate, build and develop business relationships with industrial customers and/or energy project developers

  • Ability to demonstrate client-focused solutions experience and talent for influencing client management

  • Ability to conduct complex solution selling and change management to C-Level clients

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and relationships simultaneously

  • Strong listening, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

  • Fluency in English, Flemish and French languages

  • “Intrapreneurial” approach backed-up by a strong self-motivation to be an impact player on CO2 emission reduction

  • Hands-on approach and takes ownership of situations

  • Valid EU driver’s license.
