Within the Belux BMS Market Access department related to the Pricing & Reimbursement discipline we are looking for a:

MARKET ACCESS LEAD

Patient Access is defined as the payer’s positive assessment of the value of our medicine, at a price that is acceptable to BMS, which yields minimal barriers to physician prescribing and patient affordability of our drug.

The mission of the Market Access Lead is to ensure best strategic decisions considering WW strategy, local environment & portfolio management. Market Access Lead is a key contributor in the Belgian team. The function reports directly to the Market Access Director.


Main responsibilities:

  • Market Access Lead is responsible for determining reimbursement strategy and translation of that strategy into optimal list and net prices, identifying payers and insight providers and assessing their reaction, defining and execute negotiation strategies with payers and executing reimbursement interactions with internal and external stakeholders. All of this together with the Market Access Director
  • Lead, develop and motivate a team of Market Access managers
  • Assess preliminary competitive Pricing & Access environment and identify early gaps. Provide P&A input to the country LCM plan and opportunities, including commercial policies and Value Communication tools to be implemented
  • With the Market Access managers, analyze the medical data, epidemiology and pricing policy to evaluate with precisions the patients potential and the budget impact and the related reimbursement criteria
  • Identify gaps and define national payer research plans. Monitor competitive P&A environment and refine strategy. Define strategy and tactics for the successful application for reimbursement. Coordinate preparation of reimbursement file/dossier
  • Tailor value propositions and deliver solutions to local payer needs that drive access and uptake of BMS brands
  • Coordinate P&R submissions and lead negotiations with payers
  • Participate in country brand teams as required. Ensure good cross-functional collaboration with sales & marketing, medical departments, governmental affairs and HEOR
  • External: Identify target customers and gather intelligence on their needs, priorities, influencers and the local competitive environment
  • External: encourage early payer interaction to prepare market access environment for product launch through stakeholder mapping, early payer communication plan and communication tools.
  • External: manage relationships with reimbursement authorities and stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes for BMS brands and portfolio
  • Develop and maintain a seamless interface with Global Pricing and WW Market Access groups to ensure local requirements are represented effectively and early, and that pricing strategies are aligned
  • Monitor competitive P&A environment and inform country market access director and WW pricing of key pricing and access decisions in the drug’s disease area. Evaluate impact of changes in pricing and access approval systems, including reference price consequences and identify opportunities to enhance and build contingency plans to defend P&A conditions for assets

Experiences & Knowledge Desired:

  • Fluent in English, French and Dutch
  • Academic level, minimally a Master degree in Life Sciences. A Master or Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, or MD degree is ideal. Additional MBA related course work is relevant
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment. Previous experience in Market Access or governmental affairs or in a Health care environment
  • Proven track record of inspiring and leading teams through change to meet/exceed expectations and goals and to excellence in account management
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, give guidance and motivates people
  • Ability to manage large team and large portfolio
  • Able to demonstrate strong capabilities to work in a complex matrix structure with different functions and brands including integrated Market Access approach among Market Access disciplines
  • Experience in the business negotiations and group presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to work across diverse cultural, social, political boundaries
  • Understanding of the current healthcare system in Belgium including pricing, reimbursement and health economics
  • Understanding of HTA requirements
  • Understanding of Bristol-Myers Squibb products and its priority business objectives
  • Mastery of verbal and written communication skills. PC knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
