The Laboratory Product Line Pharma
R&D IT team is focused on providing leading-edge technology solutions to help
drive Janssen’s small molecule discovery organization. The Laboratory Product
Line Pharma R&D IT is the strategic information technology partner
supporting laboratory and automation activities in medicinal chemistry,
computational chemistry, analytical chemistry, DMPK, molecular pharmacology,
high-dimensional biology, discovery data sciences, computational sciences,
screening and compound logistics.

The Laboratory Product Line Pharma
R&D IT team members work directly
with business partners and the Business Technology team to provide strategic analysis of business
processes, defining scientific IT requirements and developing strategic
partnerships with research and business technology colleagues to deliver
complex cross-site and multi-disciplinary projects and programs.

In this business analysis lead role,
the successful candidate will help shape and realize enterprise wide discovery
informatics platforms and processes, to modernize and support lead discovery
and optimization activities. Our mission is to use the best technology to

The Laboratory Product Line Pharma
R&D IT business analyst will provide technology and organizational support,
assess technologies and deliver solutions across discovery biology, helping
shape the business applications and processes that enable timely and effective
data generation. Managing the technical implementation teams and collaborating
with other technical teams across the organization, the Laboratory Product Line
Pharma R&D IT Lead will drive business technology impact within Janssen’s
discovery engine.

Job Location

The position will preferably be
hosted on the Spring House, PA campus, but there is the possibility for the
role to be located in either La Jolla, CA or Beerse, Belgium for the right
candidate.

Responsibilities

Delivering discovery biology laboratory data generation
and management enhancements, and process optimizations, across Janssen’s
research organization globally

Develop and interpret performance dashboards to drive
process optimization and decision-making

Enable IT driven improvements in cycle-time reduction,
compound profiling and experiment execution.

Lead cross-site, multi-disciplinary projects with
internal and external partners.

Provide vendor management for global laboratory
automation applications

Promote the engagement and commitment of team members
and ensuring excellent communication between researchers and developers/engineers.

Define project goals and manage risks/budgets to ensure
impact, including post project evaluations.

Evaluate and communicate the strengths and weaknesses
of business processes. Identify new business requirements and developing
the business change strategies to address the needs of stakeholders by
improving information systems, procedures and championing organizational
change.

Qualifications

A
biological sciences or chemistry related degree and demonstrable
experience (2-5 years) working with informatics and scientific IT applications
in an industrial environment, preferably pharmaceutical

Practical knowledge of the drug discovery process, from
target identification to late lead optimization is required.

Practical experience enabling compound logistics, assay
data flow, plate management, molecular pharmacology, lab automation,
robotic screening or related activities is required.

Experiences with commercial Compound Logistics, DMPK
solutions is desirable.

Experiences in LIMS and ELN is a plus.

Experience with commercial assay data management and
analysis platforms, such as GeneData, ChemAxon Assay, Perkin Elmer Signals
Screener, Dotmatics or IDBS is desirable.

Experience with commercial high content imaging assay
data management, analysis and storage platforms, such as Columbus is a
plus.

A process analytical focus is required to ensure
optimal cycle-times are achieved.

An analytical mindset, with data analysis and
visualization experience. An ability to dig into data, identify trends and
communicate findings to collaborators and stakeholders.

Experience with data visualization and analytics tools
such as Tableau or Spotfire is desirable.
