As Head of Retail , you are the right hand of the Commercial Director of our BeLux team, and are part of the BeLux Leadership Team. You are the co-pilot for our commercial BeLux strategy and create growth opportunities for the category and for Alpro by building and managing the retail business together with your team. You own and assume full P&L responsibility for all Alpro’s Retail business.
Your role
  • Co-pilot of strategy : You design and develop Alpro’s Belux retail strategy and you implement this strategy with your team, in alignment with the Commercial Director.
  • People management : You are a true coach for your team members: Key Account Leaders and a Field Sales Manager. You coach for growth, bring your team to the next level and act as their sounding board.
    If needed, the key account leaders can escalate their issues and you help them resolve these issues or unblock negotiations.
  • Relationship building : You build further on strong and sustainable relationships with our retailers and take this to the next level.
    You back up your team and you review (or where needed help them in preparing) their Customer Development Plans, you talk through their tactics and their negotiations with the buyers. You support your team in building strong relationships across the different functions and hierarchy within their assigned customers.
  • Sales & retailer contact : You co-pilot the business of the most important retailer, by accompanying the responsible key account leader to crucial negotiation meetings such as at year-end, etc. If needed or required, you involve the Commercial Director for the more complex negotiations.
  • Alignment : You ensure alignment of the actions at retailers and on the field to ensure a coherent and efficient vision & implementation of the strategy. You are also the sparring partner of the local marketing team to discuss the customer trends, the promotions, actions, etc.
  • Knowledge sharing & sparring : You share best practices and you strive to implement streamlined process. You organise internal meetings for knowledge sharing. You are the internal sparring partner for your colleagues in the different markets and on divisional level (e.g. international retailers, projects, new ways of working, etc.).

Your profile
  • You hold a Master’s Degree in Economics and have a proven sales experience, preferably in FMCG.
  • You have profound understanding of the Belgium Retail landscape and you excel in negotiation skills.
  • You take full ownership, take up responsibility and love to have impact. You are goal oriented and are a true hunter.
  • You are proactive & agile and have the ability to work effectively in a high pace environment.
  • You are a true coach and team player.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, in English, French and Dutch.
