GLOBAL PROCESS SAFETY MANAGER M/V


Lawter has an exciting opportunity for a Global Process Safety Manager within the global HSE department. You will be responsible for providing process safety and asset integrity leadership across the manufacturing facilities at Lawter globally.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Process Safety & Asset Integrity strategies across Lawter’s manufacturing facilities to improve operational reliability, safety and asset protection.
  • Implement required assurance programs to ensure that all risks associated with the design and operations of the assets are identified and risk assessments are effectively executed to eliminate or block hazards.

Essential duties:

  • Develop and implement process safety and asset integrity corporate policies, procedures and best practices in conjunction with different departments (Site Managers , EHS, Global Projects& Engineering Departments)
  • Provide expert advice to the manufacturing sites and lead as needed with Risk Management, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) analyses, process safety studies and process hazard analyses (Hazop/PHA).
  • Monitor and report status of Hazop/PHA, MOC, compliance and internal & external audit execution and the corrective action plans.
  • Ensure sufficient PSM training (HAZOP, PHA, RCA, LOPA) processes and toolkits are available and implemented throughout the corporation.
  • Lead / Participate in Process Safety incident investigations/root cause analyses and in conjunction with site management teams, track progress of corrective actions plans.
  • Participate in select Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) prior to startup of new or modified processes or equipment or after extended shutdown of equipment.
  • Analyze process safety data, report data trends and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and participate in process safety compliance audits and self-assessments.
  • Support plants and provide expert advice for local process safety requirements and when interface is required with local regulatory agencies.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum of 10 years plant experience with a broad technical understanding of plant operations and process safety management.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of process safety management, asset integrity, regulatory compliance and HSE standards and work practices.
  • Relationship building abilities both with internal stakeholders as with external regulatory community.
  • Proven ability to lead multicultural teams, influence operations, and build consensus opinions.
  • Strong leadership/change management skills are a must.
  • Proven ability to work with remote teams in a matrix organization.
  • Travel to plants/sites within US, SA, Europe, China and New Zealand. Travel could be up to 50%.
