The Position
Wheelhouse Group is looking for professionals to help support federal initiatives to build back the economy and support under-represented communities gain access to fulfilling careers.
Wheelhouse Group leads the Partnership on Inclusive Apprenticeship (PIA) to create opportunities that lead to careers in high-growth, high-demand sectors of the U.S. economy for people with disabilities, women, veterans, youth, BIPOC and other underrepresented communities. We focus on industries like technology, finance, healthcare and clean energy.
We are looking for people to help support this team in the areas of communications, stakeholder engagement and program management. We are looking for top performers with 5-15 years of experience with the following mix of qualifications:

Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written; excellent active listening skills
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships in government, academia, industry and the advocacy community

Skills & Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Diversity equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA)
Workforce development, apprenticeship, labor unions
Clean energy
Emerging technology
Ability to lead and facilitate others to move toward a common vision or goal
Knowledge of the design, development, delivery and management of strategic communications
Experience starting new initiatives, building a vision and driving momentum among diverse stakeholders preferred
Organized with natural agility to move seamlessly from strategic tasks (developing a strategic plan) to tactical tasks (preparing PowerPoint briefings)
Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle; proven experience managing multiple projects
Government ecosystem experience is a plus
Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others
Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and a gift for creating briefings and documents that tell a compelling, relevant and data-driven story
This is a remote position that may require occasional travel once current restrictions related to the pandemic are lifted. The majority of the team is located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
