SGS Life Sciences carries out all type of services for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, from coordination and running of clinical trials with new molecules or techniques on human beings, to support and consultancy on post marketing registration activities. SGS Life Sciences has also expertise in the quality control of pharmaceuticals.

At our Clinical Pharmacology Unit, located at University Hospital Antwerp, we are currently looking for a Data Quality Officer!

Job Description

You will work across the multidisciplinary CPU operational teams (investigator, coordinator, pharmacist, laboratory technician, nurse, recruitment officer and administrative staff) and focus on the independent quality control of the CPU processes of data collection and study organization.

In the role of Data Quality Officer, you are responsible for the following main areas:

1. First and foremostperforming Independent Quality Control (IQC) activities:

  • You check study files, patient records, study schedules and trial forms for completeness and accuracy.
  • During the technical conduct of a trial, you implement and perform ‘at random’ independent quality control checks.
  • You check the adherence to procedural requirements, such as version control, proof of training, amongst others.
  • You create reports of the independent quality control checks, including description of the observed items.
  • You report the results to your line manager and to the study team members. 

2. In addition being part of the organization and planning of the IQC activities:

  • You participate in the creation of a weekly/monthly planning for the ‘at random’ checks for the independent quality control.
  • You perform client specific quality control activities, per client contract, or on request of CPU senior management.
  • You execute your role considering the applicable procedures, study protocol, data entry guidelines, and ICH-GCP guidelines and the regulatory requirements.
  • Together with the team, you support the implementation of corrective actions.

Qualifications

What do you need to be successful?

  • You have obtained a paramedical degree (or equivalent), with preferably 2-4 years of experience in a quality or an operational function related to a Clinical Pharmacology Unit or in Clinical Research.
  • You love to navigate within a diverse group of stakeholders.  You have great interpersonal and communication skills and can deal with subjective perceptions of the colleagues involved in data collection. 
  • Quality is key, certainly at SGS.  You are driven by objective measurement tools, and love to assess data quality dimensions.
  • You are fluent in both Dutch and English.
