About Rechargeable Battery Materials

We are all on the move. Umicore's rechargeable battery materials give people autonomy and connectivity. We are a pioneer in battery materials that give added range and performance to electric vehicles. Our materials also ensure longer battery life for portable electronics. However, we cannot still enable our customers to produce even better-performing batteries. So we need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions, and develop new ideas, which is where you come in.

What you will be doing

* You define and coordinate material synthesis, processing, and other research plans related to developing and testing new battery materials.
* You execute complex Research & Development tasks using advanced equipment and software tools.
* You gather data and results and interpret them in meaningful ways to share with the project team in English.
* You install and maintain operating procedures to guarantee safe and efficient work
* You keep up to date with the evolutions within the field by participating in events, seminars, and training.
* You share knowledge and conclusions with the battery team
* You inform colleagues about new technologies, products, and safety instructions

Profil

Who we are looking for

* You have obtained a Master's Degree in chemistry, material science, or a comparable field.
* You have advanced knowledge of inorganic or physical chemistry and insights in material science.
* You have experience developing battery materials (synthesis, characterization), which would be a plus.
* You are strong in data analysis, you have knowledge of programming would be a plus.
* You are able to work in a team but also independently.
* You are a quick learner.
* You think scientifically and have strong problem-solving skills.
* You have seasoned reporting skills in English, both orally and in writing.
* You are punctual and conscious when it comes to more detailed work.
* You are goal-oriented and take the initiative to solve complex issues.
* You have the leadership skills to grow into a supervising role in time.
