The CR Advisor Offshore Wind will be part of a team of 6 providing integrated power policy support as Shell seeks to build a material and profitable global power value chain covering renewable energy generation, trading, electric mobility and energy supply to homes and businesses.

Shell entered the offshore wind business in 2000 as part of a consortium that installed the first offshore wind turbine in UK waters. Today, we have deployed, or are developing, offshore wind across North America, Europe, the UK, and Asia. Shell’s projects range from conventional Bottom Fixed developments to Floating Offshore Wind and multi-technology projects combining floating solar, batteries and green hydrogen production. The role of this advisor will be to support local, in country CR teams at a regional / strategic level.

What’s the role?

Objectives:

1. Policy development and alignment: “Own” Shell’s relationship with trade body WindEurope (EU policy development), e.g. attending and coordinating Shell’s representation on working groups, providing Shell’s response to policy papers and briefing Shell GM / VPs / EVPs. Lead the delivery of regional and global policy “handrails” for offshore wind to help local teams, especially in emerging markets, determine the types of policy frameworks which Shell tends to favour.

2. Thought Leadership: support the team determine which key external media moments are coming up (e.g. reports, events) and help Shell prepare proactive positioning / articles / social media to deliver thought leadership as a result. Understand and summarise reports, events and viewpoints from key think-tanks, NGOs and academics and rapidly determine how those views should influence Shell’s policy development and advocacy strategies.

3. Communications & Reputation: Support the creation of regional and global key messages and communication plans for Shell’s offshore wind business and support the delivery of key events.

What we need from you

  • Experience of energy policy, ideally in offshore wind

  • Excellent communications, writing and editing skills.

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex interfaces and building trusted relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including executive-level leaders

  • The ability to prioritise competing requests and deadlines effectively.

  • Strategic and creative thinker and problem-solver.

  • Strong attention to detail and able to learn new material quickly.
