Main purpose:

  • Main objectives: Lead the PPGA function in Belgium and support in the Netherlands by driving the PepsiCo+ agenda on products and Packaging
  • Purpose: Help drive the growth of PEP’s business in the Benelux by protecting and further building the permissibility of our current and future portfolio with the aim to maintain PEP’s corporate reputation and license to operate across the Benelux.
Scope: Benelux, with a leading responsibility on the Belgian political and regulatory environment

Accountabilities:

Further develop the PPGA Benelux function, focusing on both the Belgian as well as the Netherlands political and regulatory environment, representing PEP actively in FEVIA, Fost Plus, the Shift and VIWF/FIEB trade associations in Belgium, such as board meetings, strategic committees and working groups on nutrition, packaging and communications, and in FNLI and FWS trade associations in the Netherlands, such as working groups on nutrition, packaging and communications. Ensure these trade associations are delivering value for PEP, by sharing and defending our positions, as pre-aligned with Executive team.
  • Take the lead of the PepsiCo+ Agenda on specific related political and regulatory discussions such as taxation, sugar, sodium, sat fat, positive nutrition, plastics, packaging, EPR/DRS systems, litter, Paris agenda, labelling, country of origin.
  • Inform and align BNL business (Cat Leads, Sales and AFH) on Purpose Agenda and 2025 guardrails, providing consultation on targets and developing scenarios on basis of nutritional and sustainability insights.
  • Further develop personal network with the existing political and NGO network in Belgium and the Netherlands necessary to advance and protect the company’s interests in both markets.
  • Prepare BNL reporting to Sector on A2C, WwP and PepsiCo+ targets, EU Pledge, WHO and other relevant BU monitoring and reporting
  • Represent PepsiCo at government meetings in Belgium on topics like product reformulation, A2C, DRS and packaging regulations.
  • Support Corporate Affairs EU team by representing PepsiCo actively in trade association FoodDrinkEurope working groups. Align EU glidepath on Climate and Energy with business.
  • Support EU and Global Sustainability Team on topics like DRS and the recycling of flexibles by building policy primers and case studies.
  • Support Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Director in sustainability communications like writing press releases, social media posts, Q&A’s, infographics, developing presentations, organizing webinars, etc.
  • Represent PepsiCo and our sustainability journey actively with external stakeholder like NGO’s, governments, and costumers.

Qualifications/Requirements

Key Skills/Experience required:

  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, ideally in Corporate Affairs (Public Policy, Government Affairs), Regulatory, or Legal area in Belgium
  • Sufficient business knowledge and understanding of how Corporate Affairs can advance PEP’s overall business agenda
  • Strong collaborative and inter personal soft skills, ability to build quickly internal (including LT) as well as external stakeholder networks and work constructively in different coalitions to get results.
  • Analytical capabilities, able to translate complex issues into simple and attractive language and tools
  • Trilingual (verbal and written) in Netherlands, French and English
  • You need to have strong social and diplomatic skills, agility and flexibility, but also persuasiveness based on data and analytics. Important to be able to translate and visualize complex information and data into simple and concise comms.
