JOB TITLE: Business Unit Leader
DEPARTMENT: Distribution
SHIFT: Day – 37 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Monday to Friday
JOB SUMMARY
As a Business Unit Leader, he/she is responsible to empower his/her business unit team (operators and super users) to deliver reliable service excellence at the most efficient cost.
He/she ensures that the activity in his/her business unit is aligned with site objectives, daily production plan and resources allocated. He/she is involved in the continuous process improvement related to operations. He/she interacts positively with the other departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Be responsible (in shift) for a business unit;
Empower his/her team by providing regular, relevant, assertive and efficient communication (daily catch up, 1to1, appraisals, monthly feedback and mid contract review…);
Develop his/her team by providing coaching, training and guidance, respect of the versatility plan of operators provided by Workforce;
Lead as an example and treat all staff with respect & equity;
Collaborate with peers (BULs, Shift process leaders, workforce) to deliver high and stable service & productivity;
Ensure alignment and consistency with his/her peer from the second shift in the BU management;
Follow his/her KPIs;
Follow his/her team to guaranty that work schedule and break are put in place and respected;
Inform his/her line management and/or the related department about all type of incidents (material, system or human) and provide end of shift relevant feed-back;
Provide his/her involvement and his/her support to the Lean strategy and OneVision & shuttle programs;
Ensure QA policy is applied and respected in his/her business unit (housekeeping, procedures, deviation, compliance…);
Ensure that each worker has received the appropriate training and follow the updates;
Ensure proper use of the provided equipment by his/her team;
Investigate and analyze problems (link with Customer Relations, QA, Transport, Analysts) and performance issues in order to implement relevant corrective actions;
Respect management guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Technical skills:
Understanding of inventory/distribution management and flow of goods principles within a warehouse (command preparation);
Information Technology – Knowledge of a WMS (RP/JDA is a plus) /WCS system and an ERP system (Baan-Oracle is a plus);
Good knowledge of MS Office.

EDUCATION
Bachelor or equivalent experience
Orientation in management and/or logistics is an asset
EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years of experience in a logistics environment
