For its Epigenetics division, Diagenode is looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist (F/M)
- Performing data analysis to support both the internal research and development team (evaluate experimental techniques, kits, equipment) and the epigenomic service team (client’s projects).
- Diagenode’s activities focus on the field of epigenetics, including:
- Protein-DNA interactions (chromatin studies)
- DNA methylation
- Expression of coding and non-coding RNAs
- The data is generated primarily by Next Generation Sequencing, including the following applications:
- ChIP-seq, ChIPmentation, Cut&Tag, ATAC-seq, scATAC-seq
- WGBS-seq, RRBS-seq, MeDIP-seq, EPIC array, targeted DNA methylation analysis
- RNA-seq, sncRNA-seq, scRNA-seq
- Understand our products, the wet-lab processes and sequencing techniques, be able to advise on the experimental design and interpret results
- Work in a dynamic multidisciplinary and international team, co-operating with the wet-lab team and communicating with clients
- Design and develop and optimize bioinformatics pipelines, tailor them to novel experimental data
- Clear and meticulous reporting, drawing meaningful conclusions from the data
- Managing the IT resources (managing space and computing capacity in a multi-user Linux environment, maintaining/updating software, organize data transfer etc.)
- Participate in customer support in bioinformatics related questions
- Supporting the Sales & Marketing team in their decision-making process and in advertising campaigns (e.g. by providing images/data for marketing materials)
- PhD or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics with a background in bioengineering, biostatistics, computer science, biology or related field
- Linux-based bioinformatics education/experience: scripting in Shell, R, Python, implementing bioinformatics software tools in Linux, utilizing programming and statistics/mathematical skills for data analysis
- Experience with NGS data analysis
- Capable of multitasking and managing several projects in parallel
- Fluency in English
- Team-oriented person
- Rigorous and attention to details
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with wet lab/bench scientists
- Excellent reporting skills (oral and written communication skills)
- Experience in molecular biology (especially NGS)
- Experience in epigenetics and transcriptomics
- Background in statistics and/or mathematics
- Experience in other programming languages (e.g. Perl, C, Java)
- Experience with machine learning and data mining
