Role Summary:
You will support the Cross-Functional Service Providers (CFSP) Technical Services Director in developing and driving the vision and strategy within the Cross-Functional Service Provider space. You will be responsible for managing the relationships between Janssen’s internal Global Development stakeholders and the providers in scope, to champion the partnership and act as a spokesperson for Janssen. You will draw on your extensive knowledge of collaborating with service providers and will be a key collaborator promoting organizational alignment, strategic direction, partnership behaviors and the appropriate levels of governance to ensure the overall success of the partnership and outsourcing strategies. The Associate Director, Cross-Functional Service Providers (CFSP) is a member of the Strategic Partnerships function in the Project Management Office and is a Janssen representative for assigned Partners.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic
  • Develop and execute a strategic framework and vision that supports the business needs and maximizes Janssen’s return on investment
  • Develop positive relationships with assigned suppliers to foster mutual process efficiencies and review capabilities for further partnership growth and innovation
  • Support Procurement-led category refresh activities to evaluate the organization’s current and future needs, validate the sourcing strategy and identify preferred suppliers
  • Work with the relevant stakeholders to develop and implement innovative approaches and sourcing strategies for new / emerging service categories to meet unmet business needs

Governance
  • Determine the appropriate governance model with assigned partners that maximizes the value to both organizations
  • Coordinate and lead regular Operational and Executive Committee Meetings in line with the agreed governance framework
  • Track the progress of partnership level goals, providing regular updates and adjusting where necessary ensuring the partnership evolves with Janssen needs.
  • Provide organizational support to ensure that the processes, behaviors and expectations needed for successful partnership are appropriately implemented at all levels.

Operational
  • Drive the day-to-day oversight of the partnership to ensure adherence to the goals, vision and related activities
  • Work closely with Partnership Enablement colleagues to implement and drive standardized procedures, training and performance measures, harmonizing them across providers
  • Support the development of performance management standards, key performance indicators and quality metrics relevant to the service category that assist in measuring the “health” of the partnership
  • Facilitate open communications and function-to-function discussions where appropriate to proactively manage potential concerns or risks
  • Support supplier related issue management and resolution matters
  • Support other assigned Global Development-led projects and initiatives
  • Drive and participate in strategic partnership process improvement initiatives and continued education / training of our relevant stakeholders

Qualifications
Required:
  • A Bachelor’s or University degree equivalent
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience (i.e. within CRO, Pharmaceutical, or Biotech)
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working with / leading external suppliers
  • A solid understanding of clinical research, specifically in clinical operations
  • Demonstrated experience in building business relationships with effective communication, coordination, and targeted results, outcomes, and follow-ups
  • Strong interpersonal skills that will engage partners from all levels and influence decision-making
  • Conflict management experience with ability to implement efficient and sustained issue resolution
  • Fluent (both oral and written) in English
  • Up to 10% international travel

Preferred:
  • An advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, MD, PhD)
  • A consistent track record of working effectively cross-organizationally in a global environment
  • Direct experience working at both the supplier and pharmaceutical / biotech side
  • Strong project management, presentation and interpersonal skills
